Stabat Mater
This album comprises the live recording of a concert at the “Evangelische Kirche” in Wiener Neustadt, Austria given in memory of the victims of the terror act on Utoya Island, Norway on July 22, 2011. Norwegian composer Oddvar Lönner has set “Stabat Mater”, a medieval poem, to music in order to express the terrible pain of the mother of one of the victims, a girl only 15 years old, who was also a friend of the composer’s daughter. Besides “Stabat Mater” also a contemporary composition, “Meditation für Streichorchester”, by Austrian composer Michael Salamon as well as Joseph Haydn’s symphony in e-minor (Trauer-Symphonie) was performed.
