Oddvar Lönner - Blue & Saint
The “Horn Concerto No. 2” is a master piece for horn by Norwegian composer Oddvar Lönner. Although written as church music, once in a while it conveys a feeling of blues and jazz at the same time, thus the album title “Blue & Saint”. The same holds also true for “Purgatorio II for organ, horn, and tuba”. Further pieces on that album are scorings by Oddvar Lönner of three poems, as well as a piece by Austrian composer Georg Arányi-Aschner, who was a teacher of Oddvar Lönner during his studies in Graz, Austria.
