DEUTSCH YAH MEEK wurde 1971 in Robins Bay / St Mary an der Nord-Ost-Küste von Jamaika geboren. Nachdem er in den frühen 90er Jahren mit Jahmali arbeitete, besuchte er 1994 zum ersten Mal Deutschland.Hier hatte er seinen ersten Auftritt mit Marlon B, und später Shows mit verschiedenen Künstlern wie Tricky Cris und dem Ragga Muffin Soundsystem aus der frankfurter Dub- und Dancehall-Szene. 1997 folgte die erste Single “The Riddim” Global Youth feat. Jah Meek, welche bei Sony Music veröffentlicht wurde. Das Musikvideo zur Single lief auf VIVA und MTV und platzierte sich in den Top 10 der Radio Charts. Weitere Veröffentlichungen ließen nicht lange auf sich warten. 1999 wurde er Teil der Band Movements und trat auf namhaften Reggae-Festivals wie Summer Jam, Chiemsee Reggae Summer, Sunsplash Wiesen und Rock am Ring auf. Yah Meek arbeitete neben Projekten mit Künstlern wie Gabriel La Mar, Mark Jefferies und George Din auch mit Sékou vom Freundeskeis zusammen. Im Jahr 1999 traf er auf Xavier Naidoo und wurde im darauf folgenden Jahr Teil der Söhne Mannheims, mit denen er durch Europa tourte. Im gleichen Jahr unterstützte er das Projekt “Brothers Keepers” gegen Rassismus und veröffentlichte zwei Songs auf ihren Alben. Bei Freetime Records wurden 2011 bereits die Single “Summertime” und der Song “Know Yourself” mit Uwe Banton veröffentlicht. Das neue Album “Sojourner” erscheint am 09.03.2012 zunächst als Download-Version. Auf dem Album werden neben den beiden bereits veröffentlichten Singles 16 weitere Songs veröffentlicht, u.a. mit Artists wie Singing U a.k.a. Bobo Yisrael, Mighty Tolga, Anthony Locks, Jennifer Washington, Shocking Murray, Singin Gold, Bobo Niyah. Here he made his first appearance with Marlon B, and later shows with various artists such as Tricky Cris and the Raggamuffin Soundsystem from the dub and dancehall scene of Frankfurt. In 1997 he released his first single “The Riddim” Global Youth feat. Jah Meek at Sony Music. The music video for the single ewas played on VIVA and MTV and was placed in the top 10 radio charts. Further releases were not long in coming. In 1999 he was part of the band Movements and performed at prestigious festivals such as “Summer Jam”, “Chiemsee Reggae Summer”, “Sunsplash Wiesen” and “Rock am Ring”. Yah Meek had projects with artists such as Gabriel La Mar, Mark Jefferies and George Din and worked together with Sékou from Freundeskeis. In 1999 he met Xavier Naidoo and the following year he became part of Söhne Mannheims, with whom he toured in Europe. In the same year he supported the project “Brothers Keepers” against racism and released two songs on their albums. In 2011 the single “Summertime” and the song “Know Yourself” with Uwe Banton were already released at Freetime Records . The new album “Sojourner” will be released as a download version on March 9, 2012. Besides the two singles which were already released the album brings 16 more songs with a lot of featured artists like Singing U a.k.a. Bobo Yisrael, Mighty Tolga, Anthony Locks, Jennifer Washington, Shocking Murray, Singin Gold, Bobo Niyah.
