Wild and wonderful

What if we looked at our own planet from a perspective that had nothing to do with being human? That is exactly the unusual approach taken by Austrian EDM band Velvet Vulture. The musicians view Earth through the eyes of aliens observing our planet and discovering things that have long since become ordinary to us.

Their new single, “Wild and Wonderful”, turns the spotlight on the incredible diversity of life on Earth. Whales in the ocean, elephants, tigers, eagles, penguins, giraffes, wolves, dolphins, bees and countless other creatures all become part of one bigger picture. Every species has its place, and every one leaves its mark. It is this alien perspective that gives the song another layer. Things we see every day suddenly seem extraordinary when viewed from a distance. Millions of different living creatures share a single planet. “Wild and Wonderful” approaches this diversity with a sense of wonder, turning the animal world into a portrait of our planet as a whole.

Velvet Vulture consists of Stefan Strolz, Stefanie Obrecht and Anita Krcal. The Austrian formation combines EDM with themes that go beyond straightforward club entertainment. Modern production techniques are also part of the band's musical approach, with Velvet Vulture being open and transparent about their use.

The band's concept has already made an impact in the charts. “Planet Earth” reached No. 2 in the German Listener Charts and also appeared in the Austria Top 30 Deejay Charts. “S.O.S.” has also brought Velvet Vulture further chart exposure. Most recently, the band has entered the newly established German Listener Charts with “Don't Look Now”, which currently sits at No. 6. The German Listener Charts were launched as an independent offshoot of “Die Hörercharts”, while the original “Die Hörercharts” continue to run in parallel.

“Wild and Wonderful” continues this path. The song moves from the smallest butterfly to the largest whale, from forests to oceans, and ultimately arrives at a simple message: Earth is full of life, and every species is part of its story. When one species disappears, the world becomes a little less complete.

With “Wild and Wonderful”, Velvet Vulture stays true to its distinctive concept. The band tells its stories from the perspective of beings who were not born on Earth and who observe our planet like visitors from another world. For a few minutes, the song invites us to see the world through those same eyes: as an extraordinary, wild and wonderful place full of life.
