Tobacco Road Blues Band - Lis & Skull
No, the four Carinthian blues rockers of the Tobacco Road Blues Band really cannot be blamed for a lack of diligence. With a concert on the 21st of March at the Eboardmuseum the gentlemen Diwald/Prammerdorfer/Egger/Sauli will release their fifth CD in the eleventh year of their band’s existence. It is obvious that the Tobaccos have changed their sound compared to previous productions. "Lately," explains Peter Prammerdorfer, "we have experimented a lot in the studio and used electronic drum sounds in addition to the acoustic drums." "We have even tried“, adds Mike Diwald, "to embed the distorted guitars in a more modern guise." Of course, the TRBB remains a blues-blues-rock band, nevertheless the Carinthian musicians wanted their music to arrive in the 21st century, which is particularly evident in the song "God Made A Perfect Job".CD number 5. "Lis & Skull" is the fifth studio production of the Tobacco Road Blues Band after "Tobacco Road Blues Band" (2017), "Don't Tread On Me" (2018), "Papa Legba" 2021 and "IV" 2023. The DVD "Live At The Museum" was released in 2019. The TRBB is thus at least the most productive domestic rock band of the last decades. Performances took the band not only through Austria but also to Slovenia, Croatia, Italy and Switzerland "Lily and Skull". The question still needs to be clarified, how it came to the title "Lis & Skull": Lily (french: Lis) and skull have always been used as symbols in rock music. While Peter Prammerdorfer preferred the lily, Mike Diwald's fingers and Tshirts often showed a skull. Two years ago the idea arose to have two electric guitars made with these symbols for the two guitarists, the black "Lis" with white lilies and the white "Skull" with black skulls. For the first time, the two beauties will be heard live at the CD presentation on March 21st at Eboardmuseum and they have also made the cover of the fifth CD. And if there are already tailor-made guitars, a corresponding song of the same name was also needed, which tells the story of the (not only) musical friendship of Mike Diwald and Peter Prammerdorfer.
