A magical journey into the colourful world of progressive music
The summary. On their fifth album, The Weever Sands go all in, finally stripping things completely down to the bone in their desire for radical minimalism while opening their vast progressive cosmos even wider. Built around two poems (in English and Breton) with a crow as main protagonist and a double note drone as musical base for each of the tracks, the album features fragile and almost lucid miniatures as well as screaming high-energy stompers. Displaying Minimal Music, Prog, Hip Hop, Funk, Space Rock, Acid Folk, World Music, New Age, Electronica, stunning guests from different countries & genres, shades of melancholy, heaps of joy & madness, a deep love for musical history, and – a first – lots of spoken words & vocals, The Weever Sands raise a topic that is absolutely vital to everyone these days: societal and personal change as time passes, and how to make use of or cope with it.The guests. Daniel Geal (voice), Armin Rave (guitar; Pavor), Geo Schaller (sax; ex-Guano Apes producer, ex-Yarinistan), Bleunwenn Mevel (voice; Vindotale, Tri Yann, Francis Cabral), Dyanne Potter Voegtlin/Jan Christiana (keys/bass synth & additional voice; Potter’s Daughter, Octarine Sky), Terry Oldfield (voice & flute), Ally Storch (violin; Subway to Sally, Haggard), Serengeti (voice & lyrics)
