Fantastic document of two German tours of The Groundhogs in 1987.
In May and December 1987 The Groundhogs played two tours which took them a.o. again to Germany, their main continental market. In May they played Wiesbaden, Solingen, Braunschweig, Berlin (2 days) and Munich. In December they played Löffingen, Nuremberg, Weiden, Regensburg, Frankfurt, Detmold and Bad Segeberg. The recordings were made at different shows.During the December tour the band had a day off in Regensburg, their home away from home. Their promoter/manager Roland Hofmann staged a show with Rory Gallagher in Regensburg that day. Tony McPhee joined his old buddy Rory to celebrate Dylan's "I Shall Be Released" and Rory's own "Messin' with the Kid". Two of the best rock guitarists ever duelling with their guitars! Sensation! If the fans get lucky they will hear Dylan's "I Shall Be Released" on the forthcoming "Nibelung Records" sampler 2021, released in January or February 21.This recording here shows The Groundhogs' mark 2 formation at their best.Line-up: Tony McPhee - guitars, vocals; Dave Anderson - bass; Mick Jones - drums.
