With past releases on labels such as Bonzai Recordings and Stellar Fountain among others, in 2014 Tero Civill achieved a Beatport number one selling track with a release that came out on Nick Warren’s Hope Recordings.
Since 2014 there's been a steady flow of remixes and single releases by Tero clocking over 850 days on Beatport Top 100 in total. For the past two years he has been focused on his first full artist album that is to be released in early June on his label Aaltomuoto.
Tero Civill's individual take on deep techno is imaginative and hypnotic, full of melodic synth parts, electronica, ambient and acid modulation. The album begins with almost ambient tones that transform into driving but deep progressive house of “Selfish”, the behemoth track of the album.
We again descend into ambient electronica with “Tartu Hetkeen”, only to calm before the storm of techno and house crossovers “Crescent Bacon”, “Plate Techtonics” and “Ganymede Theme”. Squirly acid lines, other worldly qualities and a sense of mystery that is both captivating and fresh.
The album has been recorded with heaps of actual synthesizers, ranging from vintage gems to modern cutting edge gear. Mastering has been done by Alho Audio, using their hand-built Knif Vari Mu II tube master compressor. The method of production gives the sound of “Words From A Distance” a unique character and warmth to stand out from the masses. The album is also available as a lossless HD audio release on Tidal, Qobuz and iTunes HD.
