Teresa Stich-Randall
Teresa Stich-Randall is an underrated singer. Her voice takes a bit of getting use to for some listeners: she sang with almost no vibrato, very cleanly and instrumentally. Her strengths were clarity of vocal line and a pronounced sense of style. These qualities had been considered vocal virtues before her day (one need only think of singers like Nellie Melba, Marcella Sembrich and the "old school") and "modern" after it, when Baroque operas were being performed with increasing frequency, but they were considered rather exotic during the period of Stich-Randall's singing career.
