In The Real World takes on the brief feeling of inadequacy where the only other option is to escape to a place where we're better people. Seeing reality and the dreamworld as two in the same, making it easier to cope when we don't like something in our reality. Instead of praising acceptance, the song portrays it as a pretence to buy time until we can once again return to our own little Utopia.
