Morgana Mirage

Morgana Mirage is the first piece to be released in the duo Sandscript's Morgana trilogy of musical sound paintings. The Morgana Trilogy is a musical experimentation on the concept of the femme fatale and illusion as expressed through three different incarnations of the mirage character Morgana.

In the first piece Morgana Mirage, the femme fatale Morgana takes the form of a lovely mirage maiden of the desert who lures a solitary traveler to his death with the promise of water.

In Morgana Mare, Morgana's deceit and treachery takes the form of a ghostly white sailing ship on the horizon speeding through the waves to the rescue of a shipwrecked sailor adrift at sea on a life raft.

In her final incarnation Fatale Morgana, the deadly Morgana takes the form of a dancer, a writhing, beguiling sultry temptress of exquisite beauty on the dance floor who leads her mesmerised victims with her sexy, undulating moves down into a death spiral of sin and self destruction (Fatale Morgana).

Jennifer, the lyricist in the Sandscript duo, first penned the words of Morgana Mirage ten years ago while learning to play guitar. Lacking a band and thereby unable on her own to arrive at the right sound and melody to bring her story to musical fruition, it was not until she began to work with bass player/private studio owner and music producer Sven Stenhammer that the song finally took musical form and came into the right musical incarnation. Utilising the powerful musical tools offered through AI, Sven was able to add to melody the right mix of instruments, including the oud, violin and darbuka which are inherent to Arabic and Middle Eastern music but that neither member of the Sandscript duo played themselves. The result was immediately more authentic, allowed creation of the musical mood and backdrop by which the words of the story could come to life.

Morgana Mirage is the first song to be released. The Sandscript duo are now hard at work perfecting the sound paintings of Morgana Mare and Fatale Morgana, and look forward to releasing the completion of the Morgana Trilogy in the near future
