Out of my Cage

Music has to breathe?! Shouldn`t be over-composed; Not over-arranged!? Improvisation and instand-composition is the same thing and so the question of the composer has to be how much composition he has to create? Which parts of his work shall be done by the musicians themselfes? How much freedom shall he give them?

It`s obvious that some kind of direction has to be provided, but inside of these structures a jazz-musician is free to play and deal with it in an instinctive way.

Michael Blassnig is presenting himself and his fellows and wonderful musicians as a sensitive composer, introverted but energetic jazz-musician and unperfect human being who is sometimes able to make his weaknesses become strenghts.
His first work called „Out of my Cage“ which was released in summer 2018 is showing „Hidden Spaces“ of Michael Blassnig and his band which cannot be considered good or bad. These pictures are victims of subjective and free interpretation but the only reality they provide is the fact that they are real.
