MATCHTAPE is different – It´s a veritable explosion that in this combination of jazz & pop, bold melodies and earthy grooves gives out good vibes, positive energy and immediately makes you want to get up on your feet and get in to it.It’s not his fault that his playing draws attention to him; Martin Meixner just does too much to avoid that. This musician and also head of the group doesn’t just skim the surface of an instrument’s effects. Simply banging on the keys isn’t enough for him. So he goes deeper, and when he plays, the instrument becomes an organism: He draws sounds from it that you would otherwise only hear if you were to listen to a wild animal’s internal organs through a stethoscope. Because an organ that only ever growls is boring like a caged tiger that only ever roars. And so Mr Meixner’s organ doesn’t just roar and growl, but also whimpers and purrs, plays games, makes eyes at you and eventually wraps itself around your neck. With Guitarist Jörg Teichert and drummer Christian Huber Matchtape is complete the sound of this formation.
