Markéta Fassati – soprano

Soprano Markéta Fassati was born in Prague, where she studied opera at the Academy of Performing Arts. She is the daughter of a well-known Czech conductor, choirmaster and music teacher, Prof. Lubomír Mátl. Markéta’s extensive repertoire spans a wide range of styles from baroque to romanticism, from songs to operatic arias (CD Emozioni, 2017). At the same time, she has also been successful in other genres such as film music (CD Simple Thing, 2015), jazz and swing (CD Perfect Day, 2016). With her pleasant, velvety soprano voice and charming personality, Markéta often performs at prestigious social events in the Czech Republic and abroad. Markéta Fassati has won multiple international competitions, such as the Emmy Destinn Competition (London) and Ad honorem Mozart (Prague). She gave a performance at the start of the official opening of the Czech House in London during the Olympic Games. During her successful career, she has performed in operas and on concert stages both in the Czech Republic and all over the world. The most prominent Czech venues include the National Theatre in Prague, the Prague State Opera, Rudolfinum, Prague Castle – the Spanish Hall, Smetana Hall in the Municipal House in Prague, and the J. K. Tyl Theatre in Pilsen. Internationally, she has performed throughout Europe (e.g. in Italy, Great Britain, Germany, Austria, Poland, the Netherlands, Croatia and Malta), Russia, Asia (China, Japan) and the USA. Markéta Fassati’s voice has charmed audiences at international festivals including Prague Spring, the International Music Festival Český Krumlov, Czech Touches of Music, the Menhir Festival (Switzerland), the Wexford Opera Festival (Ireland) and Al Bustan (Lebanon). She has performed under the artistic guidance of prominent conductors such as J. Bělohlávek, L. Mátl, D. Jurowski, J. Shearman, J.-L. Tingaud, H. Griffiths, F. Kan, R. Hugo, P. Altrichter, P. Vronský, L. Svárovský and others. She frequently appears with prestigious music ensembles such as the National Theatre Orchestra, the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, the Brno Philharmonic Orchestra, the Pilsen Philharmonic Orchestra, PKF-Prague Philhamonia, the Hradec Králové Philharmonic Orchestra, the Beppu Symphonic Orchestra Japan, Staatsphilharmonie Cluj, Collegium Marianum, the Vivaldi Orchestra Praga, Ensemble Martinů, the Beethoven Trio, Virtuosi Pragenses.
