“Na Maré”, the first EP recorded by Marco Antonio da Costa, in Brazil

“Na Maré” is the first EP recorded by Marco Antonio da Costa, in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil, in 2007 in EP format with 3 original tracks. This EP was recorded right after the first season as a musician on the cruise ship named “Pacific”, which cruised through the northeast of Brazil, from the coast of Ceará (CE), Rio Grande do Norte (RN), Paraíba (PB), Pernambuco (PE), Alagoas(AL) and Fernando de Noronha(PE). Inside this ship were several important musicians who are part of the history of music in the “RN-state” and represent strong musical references for Marco, such as: the singer/songwriter “Erick von Sohsten”, the drummer/producer “Jorge Lima”, the bassist/composer Daniel Ribeiro and the saxophonists/composers “Wilson Ribeiro” and “Yuri Dantas”. Last but not least, the singer “Liz Rosa”. The quartet of Brazilian jazz instrumental music regularly performed on this ship. From this experience, literally “floating” in the tides of the Atlantic Ocean in northeastern Brazil, compositions were written and later recorded on this EP and on other discs from Marco's career. At the end of the season, this group was well rehearsed and ready to record a demo that became the first printed EP of Marco Antonio da Costa's career, entitled “Na Maré” (“Going with the flow” or “on the tide´s flow”). The composition “Samba Roubado” debuted for the first time on this recording, featuring “Antônio de Pádua” on the trumpet/percussion and would be later be recorded in various formations, on the album “Painel” (2010) and on the album “Viena Brasileira” (2021) by the “Viennese Choro Ensemble” (Wiener Choro Ensemble). On drums, Darlan Marley, today a prominent musician on the international scene; On bass, his longtime friend Daniel Ribeiro, author of the composition "Ao anoitecer". Line Up: Marco Antonio da Costa - Guitar/Composition, Daniel Ribeiro - Electric Bass, Yuri Dantas - Sax Alto & Tenor, Darlan Marley - Drums. Special Guest: Antonio de Padua - Trumpet/Percussion
