Tunes from the Border
Imatra is a town located in South-Karelia, Finland between Lake Saimaa and the Russian border. All tunes on this CD have been created in Imatra. The music in South Karelia is typically slightly melancholic. However, the music on the Russian side of the border is even more melancholic. Thus it`s safe to say our tunes might be slightly influenced by melancholy. On the other hand, all of our tunes have been recorded in the western parts of Finland by local musicians. The music here is influenced by country, folk, jazz, blues and rock and even dance hall music from Sweden. Thus, it has a brighter character. We hope you will enjoy our melodies originating from South Karelia with a touch of music traditions from Western Finland.
