Some records don't get made in studios. They happen in rooms where something is already in the air.
Stripped Down at Tube's is Exploding Pig's live album, recorded in January at Tube's – an intimate venue that felt less like a concert hall and more like someone's living room. The four-piece band, whose sound they call Alternative Jazz, has been blurring the lines between jazz, psychedelic textures and urban grooves ever since their second album Sticky Glove – and that evening, they did it without a safety net.
What makes this recording special is its honesty. Every loop you hear was built live, in the moment, in front of an audience. No pre-recorded beds, no studio polish added after the fact. Just four musicians finding their way through a set that swung between raw, power-loaded moments that never lost their roughness and deeply atmospheric passages where restraint was the boldest move in the room.
The result is an album that captures not just the music, but the feeling of being there – the tension, the breath, the space between notes.
