The Songs Of Duncan Lamont

Born in Greenock Scotland, tenor saxophonist and composer, Duncan Lamont has been described as the new Cole Porter and a growing band of singers including Natalie Cole, Elaine Paige, George Shearing, Cleo Laine, Blossom Dearie, Michael Feinstein, Elaine Delmar, Sir Richard Rodney Bennett, Tina May, Norma Winstone, Frank Holder and many others who have performed his songs are proof positive of his song writing talents.

This recording explores songs from Duncan Lamont's extensive repertoire of original compositions.
Duncan continued to write new songs (music & lyrics) on a regular basis into his late 80’s.

Popular vocalist on the London Jazz Scene, Esther Bennett had been working with Duncan touring “The Duncan Lamont Songbook” at jazz venues and theatres around the UK, often inviting other well known singers to join the show, two of whom are featured on this recording.

This EP is a tribute to this project and to Duncan who passed away in July of 2019.

The EP features some of Europe’s finest jazz musicians. Pianists Simon Wallace and John Crawford, Simon Little on bass, Mark Fletcher on drums, Duncan Lamont Snr and Duncan Lamont Jnr on saxophones.
