ENYA-M RELEASES AN UPBEAT DEBUT SINGLE

With a steady barrage of new music flooding the airwaves, what makes a new artist cut through the white noise in music today? It takes a special combination of talent and drive to transcend beyond anonymity – fortunately, up and coming artist Enya-M has plenty of both.

This young artist’s single, Shut Up En Soen My Nou, has just been released, and is set to become a South African chart favourite.

Shut Up En Soen My Nou is very special to the singer as it is not only her first single, but also the a song that her mom – Nini Schlechter – wrote when she was still part of the duo, Sassi. “My mother wrote the song when she was still part of Sassi, but it was never released,” she explains. “We decided to rework the song and turn it into a dance hit.”

The song itself, however, is not directly related to the inspiration behind it. Instead, it is about the connection that exists between two people and the feelings that result from it. “The girl has strong feelings for the guy and just wants him to kiss her,” the artist shares.

“I think that young people will like the song a lot, because they will be able to identify with the theme. After all, nothing beats being young and in love,” she says. “Everyone also enjoys a nice dance number, and this song will make you feel young and carefree.” The song, which slots into the pop genre with ease, is authentic, with a melody that makes you want to sing along.

For Enya-M, the highlight of her career is the present moment. "My music career started out by accident when my mother and I were invited to take part in a model and talent competition in New York in 2018. Although I was only supposed to model, I also entered the singing section and ended in fourth place,” she says. “I hope that my debut single will be well received, and I also plan on recording and releasing English songs in the future.”

That doesn’t mean that she hasn’t already had a fulfilling experience. “Music has always been part of our lives. My grandfather used to play the piano and sing every morning. My mother and her sister were also in the music industry, so I grew up with music in my life,” says Enya-M.

The brunette’s first appearance on stage was in 2012 when she was nine. It was, however, only after her experience in New York that she decided to make a career of it. “My mother is also involved in developing young musicians and I was privileged enough to be part of a production she did with Vicky Sampson and Gabi Le Roux in the Artscape theatre. It has also been one of the biggest highlights of my career so far.”

Dani describes her voice and style as organic and authentic and she is inspired and influenced by artists such as Demi Lee Moore, Adele and Kurt Darren. “Besides being incredible artists, they are true musicians who deliver messages via their music,” says Dani. “This is what I aim to achieve. To remain original and true to myself, and to share my feelings and experiences through my music.”
