Annette Maye und Martin Schulte sind ein hervorragendes Beispiel dafür, wie Klezmermusik neu, offen und äußerst unterhaltsam interpretiert werden kann. Die vielseitige Ausbildung der beiden Musiker, ihre Vernetzung innerhalb des Jazz-Bereichs, der improvisierten und zeitgenössischen Musik, sind hier das Werkzeug der Transformation. Themen werden improvisatorisch frei behandelt, teils dekonstruiert oder reharmonisiert. In der Miniaturbesetzung ohne Rhythmusgruppe experimentiert das Duo gerne mit vielfältigen Varianten rhythmischer Strategien.

Annette Maye and Martin Schulte are an excellent example of how klezmer music can be interpreted in a new, open and extremely entertaining way. The versatile education of the two musicians as well as their networking within the jazz field, improvised and contemporary music, are the tools of transformation here. Themes are treated improvisationally free, partly deconstructed or reharmonized. In the miniature instrumentation without rhythm section, the duo likes to experiment with diverse variations of rhythmic strategies.
