Connell Cruise is a Singer, songwriter, musician & actor from Johannesburg, South Africa. Cruise is currently in studio writing and recording his sophomore album, off the back of the success of his debut album released in 2013. The album produced 3 number 1 radio hit singles, “Not Just Friends, 99% & I Oughta Tell you” as well as a surprise number 1 iTunes release covering Avicii’s global smash hit “Wake me up”. “Wake me up” was recorded as a fan exclusive release leading up to his performance in front of 30 000 fans at Joburg Day. Cruise has enjoyed chart success in Finland, Norway, Denmark & Sweden, as well as airplay in Switzerland, Brazil and Mexico. Cruise received three South African Music Award nominations in 2014 for “Best Adult Contemporary album”, a nomination in one of the most sought after and prestigious categories for “Male artist of the Year” as well as a nomination for “Record of the year” for the hit single “Not Just Friends”. Cruise’s second album will feature songwriting collaborations with Billboard Magazine chart topping act “American Authors”, as well as writers whom have written for Westlife, One Direction and Pink. The first single, which is yet to be named was produced in Brooklyn, New York City by Ido Zmishlany and will be released on 14 April 2014. Cruise has had a busy year in various spheres of the industry including a role in the national Hennessy TV Commercial & being chosen by Tommy Hilfiger International to endorse the launch of their summer range. Cruise was hand picked by the Department of Arts and Culture to perform at the launch of the 20 Years of Freedom and Democracy countdown campaign. Cruise was also named as new entry into the Heat Magazine Hot 100 celebrities & was named one of the best dressed male celebrities to watch in 2014 by The Citizen newspaper. Connell Cruise signed an exclusive worldwide artist & publishing deal with David Gresham Records and David Gresham Music Publishing in 2012, in February 2013 Cruise released the “Not Just Friends EP” exclusively on digital platforms, the EP featured the hit single “Not just friends” peaking on the Itunes charts in the top 10 & has consistently been one of the top 10 local downloads on the chart since. David Gresham Records boldly released the album digitally on the 15th of May 2013 due to the overwhelming demand from fans across the globe. The album peaked at number 9 on the Itunes charts and created a stir on social Media. Connell Cruises’ self titled debut album was by award winning producers Theo Crous at Bellville Studio’s in Cape Town and Ziggy at David Gresham Studios in Johannesburg. 2014 promises to be an even better year for this talented young musician.
