Alberto Ginastera: Piano Concerto No. 1, Op. 28: IV. Toccata concertata (Presto)

Single release of only 4th movement of Alberto Ginastera’s Piano Concerto N°1, Op.28 “Toccata concertata” that is also a title on Cecilia Pillado’s new Album “GIN-GER: Ginastera Piano Concerto N°1 – Gershwin Concerto in F”. Firstly, the last movements of each piano concert (4th by Ginastera and 3rd by Gershwin) are releasing on the same date, because they are very similar to each other due to their frenetic, constant and overwhelming rhythm, which is the protagonist. This hammering “Toccata concertata” is pulsating, energetic and vigorous. This is a real piece of bravura that requires true virtuosity and was popularized by the English progressive rock band “Emerson, Lake and Palmer”.

We can find the proof that Cecilia Pillado is a piano virtuoso in this new album that contains two of the most important concertos of the 20th century. Recorded live in the 90s, they could, today, be considered historical or landmark recordings without a doubt.
