Mittendrin

"Mittendrin" ist die Singleauskopplung des am 19.9. erscheinenden gleichnamigen Albums und dient als Vorgeschmack auf dasselbige:

Mittendrin in inspirierenden Eindrücken rund um die Welt, mittendrin in den Facetten des Lebens, mittendrin in der jazzigen Tonsprache von Barbara Rektenwald, die von vielen Einflüssen aus Klassik, Pop, Tango und
Worldmusic mitten im Zentrum von Österreich geprägt ist.

Barbara Rektenwalds Jazztriokompositionen vermitteln emotional intensive und facettenreiche Stimmungen, die von persönlichen Eindrücken und Begegnungen inspiriert sind.

Ihre musikalischen Partner sind der ukrainische Kontrabassist Anton Zhukov am Kontrabass und der österreichische Schlagzeuger Gottfried Schnürl am Schlagzeug, die sich durch feinsinnige und harmonische Improvisationen ideal ergänzen. Die argentinische Sängerin und Textautorin Maria Bisso bereichert den Sound des Ensembles durch die dem Tango eigene Wehmut und Lebensfreude.

Die stilistisch vielseitigen und ausdrucksstarken InterpretInnen starten ihre musikalische Reise in Österreich mit dem „Blue Danube Waltz“ und machen Halt in der Carmargue in Frankreich und in „Cotswolds“ in England. Dann begeben sie sich in die Vorstädte von „Buenos Aires“. Mit dem Abschlusssong „Dobleim“ landen sie wieder in Österreich, mittendrin im Hier und Jetzt.

In the midst of inspiring impressions from around the world, in the midst of life’s many facets, in the midst of the jazzy musical language of Barbara Rektenwald - shaped by numerous influences from classical music, pop, tango, and world music - right at the heart of Austria.

Barbara Rektenwald’s jazz trio compositions convey emotionally intense and richly nuanced moods, inspired by personal impressions and encounters.

Her musical partners are Ukrainian double bassist Anton Zhukov on double bass and Austrian drummer Gottfried Schnürl on drums, who complement each other perfectly through subtle and harmonious improvisations. Argentine singer and lyricist Maria Bisso enriches the ensemble’s sound with the melancholy and joy of life so characteristic of tango.

The stylistically versatile and expressive performers begin their musical journey in Austria with the “Blue Danube Waltz,” making stops in the Camargue in France and in the “Cotswolds” in England. They then move on to the suburbs of “Buenos Aires.” With the final song “Dobleim,” they return to Austria - right in the midst of the here and now.
