PEARLS & DISCOVERIES combines works from the great clarinet repertoire by composers such as Schumann, Widor, Bassi, and Rossini with lesser-known pieces that nonetheless possess great charm and emotional and musical impact. The CD focuses on Béla Kovács, a great clarinet teacher who has given the instrument a rich catalog of works, including “Sholem Alekhem”, and on two Italian composers, Michele Mangani and Walter Farina, whose works are actively contributing to the enrichment of the clarinet repertoire. The CD features two world premiere recordings: Rossini’s “Cavatina”, in the version also reworked by clarinetist Antonio Tinelli, and Walter Farina’s “Quadro Pucciniano”, written for and dedicated to the Tinelli-Moseychuk Duo.
