A sensational coop of bluesrock and Crimso musicians - history!

"Accidentally Born In New Orleans" was released in Germany in December 1972, followed 6 months later on the Transatlantic label in the UK - 'accidentally' issued with the title "Accidentally Borne In New Orleans" in America.

The 'accidental' of the title is effectively how Snape was formed, during a USA tour of collective bands, including Humble Pie & King Crimson. Thus the band is also known as "The Accidental Band".

Alexis Korner and King Crimson (minus Robert Fripp) came together as Alexis Korner & Snape, and recorded this 1973 release. The album was recorded in San Francisco and also included some interesting guests including Patto members Ollie Halsall and Mike Patto, Tim Hinkley (Alvin Lee, Thin Lizzy, Roger Chapman). Peter Thorup of CCS was also a key member of Snape. For first time on CD, the album has been remastered from the original tapes and includes new detailed liner notes by band member Ian Wallace.
King Crimson supported Humble Pie on their US tour. Alexis Korner and Peter Thorup accompanied Humble Pie, while King Crimson were support. The Crimson musicians admired Alexis Korner and Peter Thorup each night, until finally Ian Wallace stood in with them.

At the end of the tour Alexis asked the Crimsos, to join him, without Fripp. A name was soon found: S.N.A.P.E. Snape stands for Something Nasty `Appens Practically Everyday.
Snape's soon set up US tour ended in San Francisco. In the studio some tracks were recorded, soon to be followed by more in London. It was on a party: Zoot Money, Steve Marriott, Tim Hinkley, Sappho Korner, Mike Patto and Ollie Halsall contributed somehow.
After the studio album had been released, tours followed through the UK, Italy and esp. Korner's stronghold Germany.Tim Hinkley joined and Gaspar Lawall. Snape recorded a live album in Germany in 1972.
Due to Alexis's weak condition, he smoked 50 Gitanes a day, he soon disbanded this phenomenal project and Snape were history.
