Wicked things to do.

1963 in Rheine geboren, jetzt wohnhaft im münsterländischen Steinfurt, und mit einigen musikalischen Genen ausgestattet, begann ich 1979 die Gitarre, den Gesang und das Spielen in einer Band für mich zu entdecken. Von der „Schülerband“ bis zur „Feierabend- oder Wochenendband“ ist es bis heute immer die schönste Nebensache der Welt geblieben. Ich habe von Beginn an auch komponiert und getextet und zwei Alben veröffentlicht, die kaum auf Resonanz stießen. Das waren unter dem Gruppennamen „Southern Range“ die CD HAVE YOU HEARD THE NEWS [1994 in kleiner Auflage] und unter dem Label „Darkroom“ das weltweit als Download verfügbare SEXCHANGER [2010], welches erstmals im eigenen Studio produziert und aufgenommen worden ist.
2014 hatte ich dann die nötige Inspiration für einen emotionalen Stapellauf. Daraufhin entstand das Album SCRIPTED REALITY und Anfang 2015 der thematische Nachfolger BACK & FORTH, beide mit vorwiegend Songs, die man dem Genre Singer/Songwriter zuordnen würde.
Das Album HOTEL HEADROOM [2016] beruht auf den Erfahrungen im Songwriting, in den Arrangements und der Produktion der Vorgänger. Melodischer, akustisch geprägter Rock mit mehrstimmigen Gesang á la Beatles oder ELO. Meine „härtere Saite“ kommt auf dem Album GROUNDED [2018] zum Ausdruck, in mit Grunge und New Wave angereichertem Hard Rock. Parallel zu diesem Werk stellte ich fast zeitgleich das Album WICKED THINGS TO DO… [2020] fertig, welches nahtlos an „Hotel Headroom“ anknüpft.
Wenn ich als Musiker nun meinen Stil beschreiben müsste, dann ist es eins nicht, nämlich „Musik für Musiker“. Nenne ich als musikalische Vorbilder in erster Linie Jeff Lynne, Jackson Browne, Tom Petty oder Justin Currie, dann habe ich nicht deren Sound sondern es beschreibt nur die Suche nach eingängigen Melodien, emotionalen Texten und die Verschmelzung von beidem. Ich habe in meinen Songs genau das gefunden, wonach ich gesucht habe: Mich selbst, meinen Stil und meine Art, die Dinge zu beschreiben.

I was born in 1963 in Rheine (North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany) and seem to have inherited some musical genes from my family. I have started singing and playing guitar in 1979 and founded my first band with my brother on drums. Over the years until now (currently playing with my wife in EVAS BLUES BAND) fame has always eluded us, but it was always the best little band in the world.
Along with playing in a band I also compose and write lyrics, but only a few of my songs were published. Apart from that it costs a lot of money to record in a studio. Some years ago I established my own small and private (Home-recording) studio when the technical capabilities made it possible with Hard-Disk recording and Digital Audio workstations. However, I found I had no inspiration for new songs, then suddenly in 2014 (combined with some strong emotional experiences) all the music I hide inside broke out and I composed a lot of tunes and 14 were published on my first album SCRIPTED REALITY available only as a download on stores like iTunes, Google play, Amazon, Spotify and many more.
In 2015 I made a second album "BACK & FORTH" in the same mood as the first and with 16 songs telling the end of this story.

Still I had so much more to say and summarized it 2016 in a third album "HOTEL HEADROOM".
How can I describe my musical style? It is not "music for musicians" with complicated song structures and endless guitar solos. When I mention some of my musical influences like Jeff Lynne, Jackson Browne or Justin Currie, I don't copy their sound, but rather it shows my love of catchy melodies and emotional and honest lyrics. I've found in my songs what I have been searching for: Myself, my style and my way to picture what is going on.

My next album "GROUNDED" is now ready to go showing I am back on earth and representing the harder rock side of me. Now I am still alive with my new album “WICKED THINGS TO DO…”
