1917 debütierte sie in einer kleinen Rolle in Martha in Hamburg. In der nächsten Saison sang sie bereits die Aida. Nach verschiedenen Gastspielen an deutschen Bühnen und an der Wiener Staatsoper trat sie feste Engagements an der Berliner Krolloper und der Berliner Staatsoper an, wo sie auch in zahlreichen bedeutenden Premieren mitwirkte. 1933 mußte sie als Jüdin Deutschland verlassen und gastierte dann an der Mailänder Scala, der Oper von Rom, von 1937 bis 1940 an der Metropolitan Opera, Covent Garden, am Teatro Colon u.a. 1943 beendete sie ihre Bühnenkarriere. Abgesehen von drei Schellackplatten enthält diese CD ausschließlich Live-Aufnahmen, die in New York entstanden sind. In 1917 she made her Debut in Hamburg in a minor role in “Marta”. By the following season she was already singing Aida. After guest appearances on different German stages, she signed contracts for the Berlin Kroll Opera and the Berlin State Opera, where she appeared in several important premieres. Being Jewhish she had to leave Germany in 1933 and made guest appearances at the Scala of Milan, the Opera of Rome, from 1937 to 1940 at the Metropolitan Opera, Covent Garden, the Teatro Colon, among others. In 1943 she bade farewell to the stage. Apart from the three shellack titles, this CD contains live performances recorded in New York.
