Album: Promises – Coming October 3rd 2025

Graz psych-ambassador Benedikt Brands, a.k.a. My Friend Peter continues into the psychedelic journey towards the new album with the next single “Easy” — a striking introduction to the multi-instrumentalist’s forthcoming album of the same name, set for release in Autumn 2025 via Viennese label Numavi Records.
From there, EASY offers a kind of farewell to the burdens of making music—a candid inner dialogue, framed in familiar psych tones but carried by a groove that lightens the thematic weight. Its finale dissolves into a shoegaze-like wall of noise, a cathartic release of frustration.
Drawing from a wide spectrum of experimental pop and psychedelic traditions, My Friend Peter blends intricate arrangements with emotional depth — weaving together atmospheric textures, understated grooves, and moments of raw vulnerability. “Promises” moves between tension and release, creating a sound that feels both immediate and otherworldly, rooted in melody but unafraid to drift into abstraction.
The track unfolds through a trembling yet floating synth, twangy guitar, and a busy, groove-laden rhythm, tightly anchored by dynamic drumming and supported by a rich, warm bass. Musically layered and emotionally resonant, “Promises” explores the quiet confidence that promises made in the mind — unspoken yet deeply felt — will eventually come true. At its heart, it's a love song, tender yet unafraid to embrace complexity.
The single is accompanied by a video featuring a mesmerizing dance performance by Maria Kardash, captured with visual intimacy by Kevin Pham, who also contributes his signature visual effects. The concept and edit were developed by Christian Fischer, completing a multidisciplinary piece that’s as cinematic as it is sonically captivating.
