My favourite Genesis songs for guitar

This story began when one day I saw a fellow student casually carrying the record cover of “The lamb lies down on Broadway“ under his arm in the school playground. Shortly after that I first listened to the amazing and unique songs “Cuckoo Cocoon” and “Carpet Crawlers”. I was hooked and wanted to find out everything there was to know about the band only to discover that the line-up of “The Lamb” was already history following Peter Gabriel’s decision to move on. Shortly after this I discovered Genesis’ new album “A trick of the tail” with Phil Collins as thelead singer and still remember the first time I listened to “Entangled”… That was my entry into the world of Genesis, a world that I still enjoy immersing into today. All this took place at a time around 1976 when the film “Genesis in concert” was released in the cinema halls giving a wider audience the chance to experience the band and Phil Collins as a singer and drummer. I remember watching the film over and over, dreaming of a future as a drummer. Armando Gallo, an Italian photographer and journalist accompanied the band from its early days and later published the bible for all Genesis fans: “I know what I like”. (Check out the iPad App to find out everything there is to know about the band). I later went on to learn the drums but initially I began playing the guitar and soon made music my profession. Over the years as a musician, I have both performed live and recorded my music but till now never touched upon Genesis, which I probably subconsciously deemed as too holy. It was towards the end of 2014 that I began reassessing “For absent friends” and “Horizons” for myself. These were also the first songs that I recorded forming the onset of my idea to produce a full guitar album with Genesis songs. This project is a declaration of my love for Genesis and their fantastic music whilst providing “new” fans an easy entry to the band’s old records. I hope I succeeded!
