Best of Blues 3 - Lightnin' Hopkins
Sam Hopkins was one of a number of blues talents to emerge from East Texas, being born and raised in Centerville. Sporting the spare, economical guitar style so central to Texas blues tradition and a sardonic wit shared with other Texans such as Blind Lemon Jefferson and Texas Alexander, Hopkins brought these qualities to a new peak in his perfomances and recordings made in the 1940s and 50s for a variety of small US labels, including those made for Gold Star in Houston.
