Lebendige Vergangenheit
Today, many years after his death, Leopold Demuth is still considered a representative of belcanto singing whose vocal artistry was firmly anchored to the perfection of his singing technique. The critics of his day repeatedly praised the warm, floating and carefully trained voice, the elegant beauty of his tone, his rich, golden baritone timbre. One critic even called it a "Rembrandt" voice. Such visual similes are not difficult to translate into the acoustical sphere, and they provide an almost audible impression für readers who have never actually heard the singer's voice.
