Hin und Weg

Nach den beiden Singles „Speckbrot“ und „Altes Ego“, sowie der Kollaboration mit Ken Hayakawa letzten Sommer, schiebt das Duo Julian & der Fux den nächsten Schwung Songs nach. Diese wirken frisch, manchmal mystisch und geheimnisvoll, sind aber wie seit jeher stets zweideutig. Die vielen Clubgigs des Zweigespanns im letzten Jahr färbten sichtlich auf ihre Produktionen ab, so wirkt es, dass viele der Songs mehr denn je auf den Dancefloor wollen.

Auch der Eröffnungstrack „Without You“ stellt gleich zu Beginn ein Novum da, ist es doch der erste englischsprachige Song der Beiden. Der namensgebende Track des Releases, „Hin Und Weg“, ist samtweich und ambivalent, während „Magic String“ melancholisch und instrumental bleibt zeigt „Unglaublich“, dass sie auch ohne klassische Strophe-Refrain-Struktur einen makellosen Popsong erschaffen können. „Durch Die Stille“ schließt dann die EP ab wie sie begonnen hatte, mit intelligenter Clubmusik.

After the two singles “Speckbrot” and “Altes Ego”, as well as the collaboration with Ken Hayakawa last summer, the duo Julian & der Fux is following up with their next batch of songs. These seem fresh, sometimes mystical, and arcane - and as ambiguous as always. The pairs many club gigs in the last year were such an influence to the production that more than ever most of the songs want to be let out on the dance floor.

The opening track “Without You” puts a novelty right at the beginning, it being the first english song for both. The name giving track of the release, “Hin Und Weg”, is velvety-smooth and ambivalent - where as “Magic String” remains melancholic and instrumental, and “Unglaublich” shows that even without the use of classical verse-refrain structure they can create an immaculate track with pop song character. “Durch Die Stille” finishes the EP of as it started - with intelligent club music.
