Powerful! Balls to the wall heavy psych hard rock with a touch of blues.

If you are a fan of this band (and if you are into late 60's psych, you should be), this collection should be considered essential. Spanning the three major stages in their evolution, early recordings as United Gas, their heyday as Josefus, and late 70's reunion recordings. All are great, though the live Josefus recordings feature typically poor gig-recording production. But you still get the idea loud and clear. This release is worth it just for the live version of "Dead Man", their signature tune from their first studio LP. In similar ways to early Pink Floyd, this band really shined in live performances, and attempts to accurately capture this magic in a studio setting inevitably fell somewhat short. The studio version clocked in at just over 17 mins., while live performances often lasted over 45. The one included here is 26 mins., and is fantastic. All of these tracks are previously unreleased, so no need to fear overlap. Includes a nice booklet chronicling their brief history. Highly recommended!
Powerful! Balls to the wall heavy psych hard rock with a touch of blues. The live " Dead Man " is a colossus of Dave Mitchell's hard guitar driven, testosterone laden, jam rock.
