The Monsters Is Awake!

They call themselves the King Kongs of Rock‘n‘Roll and they fittingly labeled their sound BrutalBoogie (a blend of filthy Rock‘n‘Roll, primitive Blues and satanic Surftango). They hit the stage for thefirst time on April 14, 2011 at the infamous Shelter in Vienna (Austria). Morbidelli Brothers andAsh My Love guitarist Sheriff Melone was overwhelmed by the sheer power of that gig: „It was likethe awakening of a monster!“Now – umpteen gigs later and almost three years to the day of their first show – Go! Go! Gorillorelease their first album. „King Kongs Of Rock‘n‘Roll“ (Tempel Records), so the obvious choice for theten songs strong CD, will be available from April 11, 2014 and has been recorded over twelve days at thePlattenwerk and at Dynamite Studios in Vienna, Austria. The albums one-two opening punch is as powerful as any ever recorded: „Barely Innocent“, with it‘sraw vocals, punchy guitars, train-like drums and walking bass, is the perfect Brutal Boogie distillate. Inthe paranoid driven „Don‘t Concentrate On The Tiger“ drummer King Kong Kolic and bass playerPretty Boy Luke lay an impenetrable foundation for Rocco Carletto‘s primitive guitar riffs and MartinOpitz‘ hypnotic howl.Without rest the band launches into the 60ties infected „My Home Is My Hell“ and Opitz‘ lament aboutunrequited love, Richard Gere and insanity. The friday night-soundtrack and fan favourite „Boys LikeBooze“ follows closely after. „King Kong Loves The Blonde One“ opens with a monolithic guitar riffbefore an irresistible bass and drum-groove grabs the listener firmly by his hips. The dance goes on withthe funky beat and 70ties rock riffing of „I Like Destruction“.The werewolf-b-movie-hommage „Howlin‘ At Midnight“ is a downright groove-monster and climaxesin a guitar solo that sounds like the chase of the beast. „Kickstart Your Aggression“ shifts two gears upand the opening lines You hate your life/You hate your job/You hate your wife/You hate your dog alreadyanticipate the musical and lyrical killing spree that awaits the listener. The instrumental surf song„Bombaventura Social Club“ keeps the band on the fast track. „Wet Nightmare“ is the culminationof the CD. Rumba and tango rhythms meet surf guitars, spaghetti western licks and saucy lyrics. A songthat would make the soundtrack of every Tarantino movie perfect.
