In this World Premiere Recording Soprano Christina Högman and Pianist Mats Jansson present Schumann's Anderson Songs Op. 40 and Prokofiev's Cantata "The ugly Duckling" Op. 18 for the first time in the Swedish language. Producer Michael Eriksson. The Swedish soprano Christina Högman made her debut in 1985 at the Baroque Theatre of Drottningholm and in the following two years she was engaged at the State Opera of Hamburg. Since then she has made guest appearances at several European opera houses. She has worked with conductors such as Ferdinand Leitner, Myung Whun Chung, Neeme Järvi, René Jacobs and Christopher Hogwood. In 1992 she returned to the Swedish opera stage at Folkoperan in Stockholm, where she continually has appeared in leading roles. She has also performed at the Royal Stockholm Opera . Her long list of recording credits includes operas by Mozart, Handel, Monteverdi and Haeffner, oratorios by Handel and Bach, Elizabethan songs with lute accompaniment, Britten's song cycle Les Illuminations, the orchestral version with soprano of Schoenbergs String Quartet no 2 and songs by Clara Schumann, Fanny Mendelssohn and Alma Mahler. Recently Christina Högman has made her debut in Sweden as a writer and illustrator with a book for children about the Robert- and Clara Schumann-family. The Swedish pianist Mats Jansson studied under Professor Hans Leygraf at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hanover, Hochschule der Künste in Berlin, and at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. In 1987, Mats Jansson won the International Viotti Competition in Vercelli, Italy After the prize in Vercelli he has performed as a soloist, chamber musician and accompanist all over Europe, as well as in Japan and the United States. He has made a number of recordings for the Swedish Radio and he appears on CDs from BIS, Naxos, cpo, Simax and Par i Piano. Mats Jansson is also performing extensively as a piano duo, Piano Duo Jansson-Asahara, together with his wife Yoriko Asahara. In 1992 he was the founder of the Norrköping Chamber Music Society. Mats Jansson teaches piano and chamber music at the Örebro University.
