Baiba ist eine 28 jährige lettische Musikerin und Autorin, die derzeit in Innsbruck lebt.
Ihre starke, charaktervolle Stimme kombiniert mit ihren eingängigen Songs, kreieren wundervoll dynamische Atmosphären, manchmal auch mit einer gewissen Verträumtheit, in die es sich einzutauchen lohnt. Immer offen für neue Inspirationen und Sound-Experimente, aber trotzdem stark verbunden mit der lettischen Kultur und Mythologie, kombiniert sie ihre Songs mit elektronischen Arrangements.

Mit den Single-Auskoppelungen (Running, Light Inside, Touch You Right) von ihrem im November erschienenen Album "These Storms" konnte sie sich schon an einigem internationalen Airplay erfreuen.
Sie war in England, Deutschland, Portugal und einigen anderen Ländern in Europa, auf unterschiedlichen Radiostationen in Rotation zu hören.
In Lettland kürte Sie das öffentliche Radio zum Artist of the Week, und sie bekam tolle Reviews von verschiedenen Blogs und Youtube Channels aus Kanada und den USA. Des Weiteren spielte Baiba Dekena 2017 viele erfolgreiche Konzerte und Festivals in Deutschland, Italien, Österreich mitsamt einer Tour in den baltischen Staaten.

Die Live Auftritte, das Musizieren, das Schreiben, der multikulturelle und der künstlerische Austausch, all das und noch viel mehr ist für Baiba Inspiration und Schaffensquelle für ihren kreativen Prozess. Ihr herausragendes Album "These Storms" und ihre neue Single "You Don´t Know Me" sind mehr als ein kräftiges Ausrufezeichen, dass sie gekommen ist um zu bleiben.

English Bio:
Baiba Dēķena is a 27 year old Artist from Latvia, currently living in Innsbruck, Austria. She grew up at her parents farm in a small village in Latvia, where she started playing piano and accordion at the age of 7.
After high school she started performing at various Folk Festivals and
Music Clubs.

Baiba has earned her degree in Literature and Creative Writing at the University of Liepaja. Her short stories and poems have been published in various literary magazines such as „Vards“ and „SATORI“. After finishing her studies, Baiba moved to Austria in 2015 and started to work for Innsbruck’s open cultural space „Die Bäckerei - Kulturbackstube“.

Since then she has collaborated with various Austrian musicians and teamed up with Producer Christoph Holzknecht. After two years of
writing, arranging and recording, Baiba Dēķena released her debut album "These Storms". in November 2017 and got already a lot of great feedback for her Singles from different blogs and magazines, aswell as daily rotations on the Radio in many countries all over Europe and beyond.

She reveals as a vocally and emotionally powerful singer-songwriter. Her serene voice grabs the listener from the very beginning and takes him into turbulent journey of love, loss, hope and solace.
